Jonathan founded Terra Tectonics in 1992, shaping a broad portfolio of landscape architecture projects throughout the Tampa Bay Area. With deep knowledge of local climate, environmental conditions, and economic factors, he combines creative vision with practical expertise—especially in project management, his core strength developed over decades of hands-on experience.
His career began unconventionally, starting as a hand draftsman in a design/build plant, then moving to PBS&J where he transitioned from drafting into their Planning and Landscape Architecture department. By 1986, he became a licensed Landscape Architect in Florida, later adding Virginia licensure and ISA Arborist certification. He has worked with respected firms like Design Advocates, gaining skills in technical drawing, production, and coordination.
Jonathan is committed to sustainable design, completing Harvard GSD’s Executive Program on Ecological Design and a Low Impact Development course. He holds an AS in Architectural Technology and studied Fine Arts at USF.
Outside of work, Jonathan is a cellist with the Suncoast Symphony Orchestra and enjoys playing guitar, sailing, fishing, cooking, photography, and sports car racing. His diverse interests reflect the same passion and creativity he brings to every project.

Birgit brings over 25 years of experience to our team. She earned her Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the Technical University in Hannover, Germany, and has worked extensively in Germany, Florida, and Alabama.

Birgit brings over 25 years of experience to our team. She earned her Master’s in Landscape Architecture from the Technical University in Hannover, Germany, and has worked extensively in Germany, Florida, and Alabama.
From 2001 to 2013, she was a project manager with Terra Tectonics Design Group, leading planting, hardscape, and irrigation design for major FDOT projects like the I-4/I-275 interchange and the Crosstown Connector. From 2011 to 2024, she ran her own firm in Birmingham, Alabama, focusing on park planning, grant writing, site design, and historic landscape documentation.
Birgit has also served on architectural review boards for U.S. Steel Real Estate and developed design guidelines for Birmingham-area organizations. Her work spans residential gardens, large-scale commercial projects, and complex DOT contracts.
Known for her attention to detail and strong project management, Birgit leads projects from concept to completion with a focus on sustainability, clear communication, and a timeless sense of place.
